I’m passionate about sustainable, green, and social co-operative climate actions that support local communities and the local economy. Residing in the Kaslo area and the West Kootenays for 3 years after a stint in Canada’s North working with First Nation and Inuit, has increased my recognition of the need for transportation options that support local healthy communities that are resilient and progressive in the sharing economy and climate action. My experience with car sharing and co-operatives comes from my previous life in Ontario supporting (as a member, government regulator and planner, or investor) in car sharing, bike sharing, tool sharing, community gardens, community food hubs and markets, and community solar and wind. I am a local volunteer firefighter and currently work in the fields of climate risk, climate action and sustainable finance, with experience in policy and regulation, planning, economic development, and public health. I am keen to see and support the co-operative become more integrated into West Kootenay communities – rural and urban to offer transportation options and choices to meet people’s budgets, needs and reduce greenhouse emissions.
